- Famous Southwest artist Lawrence Lee, whom we have represented for over twelve years now, informed us two years ago that he had made a decision to stop painting on canvas in order to devote his energy to experimental digital art. We are delighted to announce that he has reconsidered, and is creating powerful new artwork in his traditional medium of acrylic on canvas. We continue to put his new paintings in our Southwest Art Collection.

- We have expanded our collection of paintings by Penny Margolis in our Folk & Outsider Art Wing. Penny's uniquely original style, and the heavy wooden hand-crafted and hand-painted frames make these attractively priced originals some of our best sellers.
In addition to a new section containing Ms. Mera's Jazz Suite Series, a wonderful limited edition series of 24 hand pulled linoleum prints which was used to illustrate "For Jazz," a book of sonnets by Peter McSloy for and about the jazz greats of our time, we have also added fourteen new oil paintings by Nina Mera in our Jazz & Blues Collection. These are all recent works in the 2001-2004 period. No one can evoke the legends of this uniquely American music on canvas or paper as Nina does in these oils and limited edition prints.

- John Henry Toney is a true original. Born in 1928 in rural Russell County Alabama, he spent about six years in elementary school before leaving to live a life of farming, hard work and deprivation. He still lives in the county. He is a deeply religious man, and is locally known as "Mustache Jesus." He had no thought of being an artist until he was 66 years old.
In 1995, John Henry plowed up a turnip "with a face on it." He decided he needed to draw a picture of the turnip, and this led to more and more fanciful artworks, drawing on a quite remarkable imagination. He began by drawing on cardboard boxes, and moved to poster board, using paint pens and pencil. Only a few years after starting his artistic career, John Henry is widely collected regionally, and has been featured in Folk Art shows in Alabama (Celebrating the Vision) and Kentucky (Festival of the Arts). One can not help noticing that John Henry's inspiration includes the Bible, but also those "big women" with torpedo breasts, to whom he pays homage in many of his paintings.

- Robert Roberg's apocalyptic visions have been documented in scores of books and publications, and are in many prestigious collections, including the Smithsonian. We have added 18 new works by this outsider artist, and we have reduced all the others in our collection by 30-40%, or as much as $1200. Please see the Price Reduced! notations on paintings in our "Folk/Outsider" Collection.
We have updated the Haitian Art Collection to include limited edition serigraphs by the renowned artists Rigaud Benoit and Wilmino Domond. These unusual serigraphs, replete with vodou symbolism, were beautifully produced in France in the early 1980s, on very heavy archival stock. They are shown exclusively in the Electric Gallery at very attractive prices.
